Michael L. Millenson, president of Health Quality Advisors LLC, Highland Park, IL, was described by National Public Radio as being “in the vanguard of the movement” to measure and improve American medicine. His critically acclaimed 1997 book, Demanding Medical Excellence: Doctors and Accountability in the Information Age, examined quality of care, patient-centered care and patient safety in the context of an information revolution transforming everyday medical practice.
 
Michael is also an adjunct associate professor of medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and on the editorial board of the American Journal of Medical Quality. He began his career as a journalist and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize three times as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune.
 
As a consultant, Michael has worked with a variety of clients, including entrepreneurial start-ups, while in the policy realm he has authored numerous white papers and testified before Congress and the Federal Trade Commission. He is a regular contributor to Forbes.com and other blogs and has written for publications ranging from the BMJ and Health Affairs to the Washington Post and USA Today. Michael has been involved with Project Patient Care and its predecessor organizations since their founding in 2001.
